Aftercare Instructions

Healing with Tegaderm/Saniderm (Adhesive Bandaging)

  1. Leave the tegaderm/saniderm on your tattoo for up to 3 days. If the bandage starts to peel off due to its own wear and tear, enough to begin exposing your tattoo, it should be removed fully.

  2. Run warm water over the bandage as you attempt to remove it and begin peeling back from the most exposed edge.  The water will help loosen the seal. Use soap or unscented oil to loosen the seam.

  3. Once the bandage is removed, wash with unscented liquid soap and warm running water. Rinse and pat dry with a paper towel.

  4. Air out the tattoo for 5-10 minutes before applying unscented lotion, such as lubriderm, to keep the tattoo from drying out.

  5. Keep clean and lightly moisturized  until healed (1-3 weeks)

  6. While the tattoo is healing, do not submerge it in water (swimming, hot tubs, baths etc.)

  7. Keep the tattoo protected from the sun, while healing, with loose clothing covering it. To preserve the tattoo, once healed, keep protected from the sun by applying sunscreen when exposure is expected.

  8. Do not pick at the tattoo while it is healing. Allow any flakes to fall off naturally.
